Herts restaurant for wedding receptions, conferences,
private dining & outside catering

The Lemon Tree in Bishop’s Stortford is best known as a restaurant that serves exceptional food in a comfortable setting within a 16th-century building situated in a historic corner of the town centre. Since opening in 1996, our services have been extended to include conferences, private dining, weddings, other events and outside catering.

Our chef-proprietor Luke Fishpool chose modern British cuisine as the theme for The Lemon Tree’s light lunch and dinner menus and has refined this to place emphasis on local and regional ingredients. His L-UK-E menu notations signify whether main ingredients are of local, UK or European origin as a broad indicator of ‘food miles’.

Co-proprietor Sue Fishpool’s front-of-house flair and expertise helped The Lemon Tree to gain listings in the Michelin and Good Food Guides, giving our restaurant premier status within the area. So, reservations are advised for both lunchtimes and evenings. A seasonal al fresco venue, The Courtyard at The Lemon Tree, serves mid-morning coffee, light summer lunch and afternoon tea.

Versatile self-contained areas within The Lemon Tree (including a private room on the first floor) ensure privacy for private dining and business or social events. The regional outside catering service, including professional waiting staff, is available for parties of up to about 300.

The Lemon Tree is in the centre of Bishop’s Stortford (find us), a market town on the edge of some beautiful countryside, yet only a fifteen minute journey from Stansted airport and with easy access by train to London Liverpool Street. Explore the website and find out more…
